A PECULIAR QUESTION FROM RICHARD MUIRHEAD

I have known him for 39 years, but never cease to wonder at the peculiar questions he has asked me with regularity during that time. Here is the latest (and as usual I haven't a clue what the answer is).

Hi,

Do you know if there are any records of giant tortoises in China during the Ming Dynasty, i.e. from 1368-1644AD?

    My question would be "why". Is he working on something where this knowledge is important or helpful?

    I would suggest a place to start would be the art of the Ming Dynasty, much of it has survived and is on display throughout the world. Big task to look through it I'm sure.
