Chile: Report of a Strange, Ape-Like Creature
By Raul Gajardo
According to information in our possession, we can say that Mr. Luis B.T., a well-known watchmaker and artist of Chile's 9th Region, shared a strange experience with his son in law in the winter months of 2006.
Luis's son in law, a truck driver who keeps very irregular hours, could not believe what he saw on the highway in June 2006 around midnight in the stretch between Los Angeles and Mulchén. On that occasion, he didn't carry any helpers with him, therefore there are no other witnesses to his sighting, but he recalls driving at a very regular speed without any other details to be added. Suddenly, in a stretch of road with little or no vehicular movement, he saw a strange creature resting quietly on the shoulder. The animal had a monkey-like appearance with short arms and very straight long legs. The driver managed to hit the breaks some 10 meters short of this creature. The apelike being did not move and turned its head toward the truck. He was then able to see that the animal had glowing red eyes and that the configuration (sic) or fur on its flesh was very odd, being covered with something resembling "short, whitish feathers."
The truck driver felt a shudder of fear in the light of such an odd situation. He halted the engine and several seconds went by, with the creature staring at him as he remained petrified with fear. The animal walked slowly, crossing the road, all the while fixing its gaze upon him. The witness remembers that the ape-like being was thickset, stood approximately over a meter tall, its head was proportional to its body and it had a large muzzle. It made no sound whatsoever. At no time did its extremities contact the ground and it walked upright at all times, "like a little man."
The truck driver was able to get a good look at it, keeping his vehicles lights on at all times. He adds that throughout the experience, the strange animal's attitude was "defiant, while passive."
At this time more information is being gathered on the trucker's strange experience, which remained hitherto unpublished and under strict family secrecy.

There have been several reports of these "Hairy Little Men" from Peru and Chile since the 1950s, sometimes reported in UFO lore and usually about a meter tall: the common Spanish name for them is "Tranco" (Goblin)and they sound like some sort of a small ape in general, like a siamang. A chunkier, redder variety is seen in the deeper jungles and THAT sounds like a small orangutan: but that is not the same as this form, which is seen in more open territory. Both kinds walk upright on the ground.
