In 1923 two brief, shakey sequences of film were taken on an island in northern Hawaii. Poor quality as they are, these films are precious. They show two birds: the Laysan flightless rail and Laysan honeyeater. Both were extinct shortly after the footage was taken.
The films are being used in an advert that is being made by the Centre for Biological Diverity. The organisation needs to make $75,000 in the next month to help them get the advert off the ground.
