Big foot find isn’t Bigfoot: It’s a bear
It’s not a man. It’s not Bigfoot. The mysterious remains found last month in Lakeville are from a black bear. Police Chief Frank Alvilhiera said the thought that a Bigfoot could be lurking in the woods did excite some people. Since the 7-inch paw turned up, Alvilhiera has fielded media calls from the “Animal Planet” and as far away as Florida.
Bigfoot, also known as “sasquatch,” is the name given to an ape-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests in North America.

CRYPTOLINK: Shipley man to show Loch Ness Monster footage

Gordon Holmes is putting on an exhibition about the Loch Ness MonsterLoch Ness Monster hunter Gordon Holmes is holding an exhibition on his astonishing efforts to find the mythical beast in celebration of Nessie’s 80th birthday existence.
And it will include his world-famous footage of a mysterious aquatic shape which he filmed moving through the loch in 2007.
Cryptozoologist Mr Holmes, ofShipley, has put together film and sonar studies from more than 14 research trips to create a two-week exhibition at Shipley Library from next week.
“It opens on May 2 – which is the 80th anniversary of the first mention in print of there being a monster in the Loch,” said retired Bradford University science technician Mr Holmes.
The amazing film was made when he was using sound recording equipment to listen for evidence of the creature.
He said: “It was around 9.50pm but the sun was still shining. I was about to set off for my campsite when I suddenly spotted something moving in the water and so I dashed to get my video camera.
“It took about 30 seconds to spot it again but I managed to pick it up again.
“It was very black and was travelling about six miles an hour. It seemed to be just breaking the surface,” Mr Holmes said at the time of his discovery.

THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN IS A LITTLE STRANGE

I was ill yesterday and spent most of the day in bed. I am a little better today, but still pretty wobbly, so I am not sure how much I shall actually achieve today. Thank you for your forebearance. Normal service will be resumed.....eventually

*  Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 53 who - together with his orange cat (who is currently on sick leave in Staffordshire) and a not very small orange kitten (who isn't) puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cats?

FORTEAN BIRD NEWS FROM THE WATCHER OF THE SKIES

In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out of place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in. So after about six months of regular postings on the main bloggo Corinna has taken the plunge and started a 'Watcher of the Skies' blog of her own as part of the CFZ Bloggo Network.
