NICK REDFERN: Bigfoot: The Problem of Food

Many researchers of the Bigfoot phenomenon take the view that the hairy, man-like beasts are some form of unknown ape. Or, they suggest that the creatures may represent a surviving, relic population of the presumed long-extinct, ancient ape known as Gigantopithecus, I, however, do not.

Rather, I take the stance that Bigfoot is stranger than either of the above scenarios; in fact, much stranger. Indeed, it’s fair to say I think Bigfoot is a beast of paranormal – rather than flesh and blood – origins. There’s a good reason I say that. It has to do with Bigfoot’s eating habits. Or, more correctly, it’s lack of eating habits.

This is something, without doubt, most noticeable when it comes to the matter of Bigfoot in Britain – for which literally dozens and dozens of reports exist.

PRUDENCE BLINGED UP TO THE NINES

At Christmas Shoshannah and I decided that Prudence needed a new collar, and for some peculiar reason known only to ourselves (and I forget) we decided that she really should have an over-the-top bling bling one, of the sort that the vulgarist of vulgarian supermodels would put on her chihuahua. I bought it on eBay and then forgot completely about it until a package arrived this morning...

Next, Pru will be expecting to go out in Corinna's handbag. I am going to have to buy a winch!

CFZ PEOPLE: Prudence Osborne RIP

Prudence, mother of Matthew and Charlotte Osborne died this morning. Regular Weird Weekend visitors will remember her as a fixture at the first few Woolsery Weird Weekends until her illness got too much for her. She was a loving and gentle person and we shall miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

"Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the universe comes, to which everything in the universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home."

FORTEAN BIRD NEWS FROM THE WATCHER OF THE SKIES (C...

In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out of place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in. So after about six months of regular postings on the main bloggo Corinna has taken the plunge and started a 'Watcher of the Skies' blog of her own as part of the CFZ Bloggo Network.

THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN WANTS TO REPLENISH HIS WIFE'S ANTFARM

All today's blogs, both Gonzo and CFZ are dedicated with love to Prudence Osborne, mother of Matthew and Charlotte, who died early this morning. I have always found comfort in this quote from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which is probably peculiar as I am lapsed CofE.

*  The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at  jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...

*  The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The same team also do a weekly newsletter called - imaginatively - The Gonzo Weekly. Find out about it at this link:

He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?
