WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN

It's sunday afternoon because the editor overslept
because it was after 5am when into bed he crept
but he still lives up to his obligations, and sunday is the time
he puts his poet hat on his head and does this blog in rhyme

We start off with a story that means a lot to me
It has now't to do with Gonzo but its here as you can see
the drummer's daughter is unwell, and because I really feel
for her and for her family, I'm posting this appeal
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/09/healing-ana.html

This next story is groovy but it is off-topic too
its an extraordinarily obscure track from 1972
with a classic animation that is really very good
a witch by Oliver Postgate taken out of Pogle's Wood
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/09/mark-fry-witch.html

We are all agog to hear this next new music, can you guess?
A collaboration between three blokes who used to be in Yes
Jon and Rick and Trevor are recording so it seems
a combination of these three is a prog fans wildest dreams

Michael Des Barres is a fine musician and songwriter can't you see?
his new album is 'Carnaby Street', its a bloody good LP
or it would have been in the old days but its now a compact disc
that should be in your collection, c'mon buy it, take the risk..

Mimi Page is a talented Lass, and her album is fantastic
and her work inspires other folk to do remixes quite drastic
she's got me into dubstep which was really no mean feat
so here's another cool remix, so your collection is complete

The doggerel I write each week is mere drivel I'll admit
when you compare it to the real stuff wot proper poet's writ
Thom the World Poet is one of the proper literary guys
but we post his poetry every day, so that's really no surprise
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/09/thom-world-poet-daily-poem_9.html

And finally one of my favourites in the music biz,
it's sunday so I'm honour bound to write about our Liz
what Auburn stuff are we posting now, gosh can't you guess
its pictures of Ms Lenten singing songs in the US

The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow
