RED DEER AT WALLAND FARM

Whilst delivering Roy's birthday present on Wednesday, we saw a shy red deer hind coming out of the woods. Here you can see the conservation lake, the deer and the back of Corinna's head in one stunning image....

When I was a boy in Woolsery back in the 1970s, the ermine moths (both this species (Spilosoma luteum) and the more common white ermine (Spilosoma lubricipeda) were amongst my favourite lepidoptera.

I say "more common" under advisement, because these days neither species is particularly widespread.

However, these two, on the wall of the cottage just outside my office door are doing their best to remedy that, and ensure that there will indeed be a new generation next year...

This made me laugh. The latest Lego set out this summer. what is the world coming to when a Lego start making an alien abduction set. it cant be long before they bring out the cryptozoology set.
