Yesterday was not a nice one, and I was - in what my Mother would have called - “a bit of a tizzy” by the end of the day, so I sloped off to bed early with my medicine, Archie, and my friend Mr Smirnoff. Thank you, by the way, to Naomi and Martin for your condolences about Bob. The office seems very empty without him.

But the most important thing is that today is my Granddaughter’s second birthday, and compared to that everything else goes out of the proverbial window.

He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat, and the adventurous kittens?
