The Gonzo Daily – Wednesday
Sad news, I am afraid, today. Anyone who has visited my office in the last
two and a half years will have made friends with Bob the Builder, a yellow Mbuna
cichlid who lived in the tank just inside the door. He earned that name by
building a network of tunnels and earthworks out of the sand and gravel
substrate. He had more character than any other fish I have known for years, and
used to display whenever anyone he knew came near his tank, swimming up and down
earnestly until he was rewarded with fish flake or pellets. He was a little
subdued yesterday, and I am afraid to say that Graham found him dead this
morning. I was very fond of him and am far more upset about it than I thought
that I would be.
Somewhere in the Elysian Fields there is a pond with a very strong
charactered little fish in it.

And so the Gonzo Weekly behemoth trundles on and we celebrate our two

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 57 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song
by Frank Zappa, and two small kittens, one totally coincidentally named after
one of the Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from
a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he
shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his
bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of
social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat, and the
adventurous kittens?
