The Gonzo Daily - Tuesday
Things never work out the way that they are meant
to. I had such big plans for yesterday, but they were interrupted by one of my
extended family separating from her family, another splitting up with her
boyfriend, and my axolotls presenting me with approximately 500 eggs. This is
particularly odd as I had thought they were both females. However, we have to
assume that they are fertile, so the two adults have been removed to temporary
accommodation outside, where they have been separated so that the proven female
can me given more food than usual and some respite from the advances of the
male, so that she can regain her strength. The eggs, on the other hand, have
been left in the quondam axolotl tank on the landing with the addition of an
airstone. If they are visibly fertile I shall add a colony of daphnia and see
what transpires. As far as the human members of my tribe who are in extremis, I
can do little more than provide a shoulder to cry on, and try to make whatever
advice I give more than platitudes. Ambystomatidae are far easier to help than
girls.

I have been assured that they will hit land again soon. There is also a

choose (OK, nothing to do with small marsupials having difficulty in making
choices, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can
shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 55 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song
by Frank Zappa puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown
cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and sometimes a
small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his
bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of
social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat?
What has Corinna's column of Fortean bird news got to do with cryptozoology?
