THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN IS OFF ON ONE

We finished what we needed to do on the Gonzo Weekly fairly early last night and were in bed before two. However there are still some things that need to be done so the magazine will be out later this afternoon
 
 
 
Ant-Bee, Jethro Tull, Dee Palmer, Lemmy, Frank Zappa, Astronomusic, Jon Anderson, Yes, Hawkwind, and Daevid Allen fans had better look out! The latest issue of Gonzo Weekly (#107) will soon be available to read at www.gonzoweekly.com, and to download at http://www.gonzoweekly.com/pdf/.
 
It has Ant-Bee Billy James on the cover, and features an interview with him by Yours truly. Doug Harr interviews the legendary Dee Palmer, once of Jethro Tull and we send Astronomusic to a desert island. Jon looks at Lemmy's autobiographt, Hawkwind go to Japan, and we remember the great Frank Zappa. And there are also new shows from the multi-talented Neil Nixon at Strange Fruit and from M Destiny at Friday Night Progressive, and the titular submarine dwellers are back with another episode of Sub Reality Sandwich (except its not). There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and anteaters wishing to snooze (OK, nothing to do with dozy edentates, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 55 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song by Frank Zappa puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat?

Well, everything actually!

In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out-of-place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in.

CRYPTOLINK: ‘Walking’ fish baffles bystanders in Bideford

An encounter of the fishy kind has baffled a Bideford angler after he watched a strange sea creature emerge from the River Torridge.

The fish emerged onto mud by Bideford’s Bank End car park and was spotted by Robert Harrowet and his friends Rob and Chris.

“It came out of the water and tried to walk on its fins. It had the tail of a conger eel and the head of a pike and was trying to pick something up with its mouth,” said Robert.

“I’m a keen fisherman myself – sea fishing and freshwater – and I’ve never seen anything like it.”

After the fish had completed its mysterious business it slithered back into the water again.

Robert suggested it could have been a coelacanth, a ‘living fossil’ thought to be extinct but rediscovered in 1938, though usually found around the Indian Ocean.

Marcus Williams, senior biologist at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth told us the fish could be a rockling: “Rocklings do have the ugly eel like appearance, but this behaviour would be abnormal,” he said.
