The Gonzo Daily - Friday
Last night I carried out a scientific experiment
conducted under the strictest of principles. I stayed up all night drinking wine
with my dear nephew Dave B-P, with both of us tottering off to slumber at about
5:00am. Bizarrely, neither of us were drunk; three bottles between two of us
over a period of nine hours isn't really excessive, but when I woke up this
morning I had a terrible headache (mostly caused by having to wrestle various
dogs for room on the mattress and ending up with a crick in the neck). But the
experiment was a success. I can now conclusively state that I prefer the merlot
from Lidl than the Merlot from Morrisons, and that the claret from Morrisons
hasn't got enough body for either of us. It is through unselfish acts of
scientific endeavour like these that the human race marches inexorably towards
the stars. Per ardua ad what's-its-name?
Counting Crows, Richard Thompson, Hawkwind, Patrick

albums by Prince, Leonard Cohen and Marianne Faithfull are critiqued and there
are exclusive words and pictures from two separate Hawkwind shows. There are
also new shows from the multi-talented Neil Nixon at Strange Fruit and from M
Destiny at Friday Night Progressive, and the massively talented Jaki and Tim are
back with their submarine and Maisie the cow. There is also a collection of more
news, reviews, views, interviews and doves making coos (OK, no musical members
of the Columbinidae, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS)
than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY
FREE!!!

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several
others) is an old hippy of 54 who - together with an infantile orange cat named
after a song by Frank Zappa puts it all together from a converted potato shed in
a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and
sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna,
his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection
of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange
cat?
