THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN IS HOPPING


So we are pretty well back to normal. Graham is in Bournemouth watching Hawkwind, and I have just finished interviewing the lovely Barbara Dickson about her new album which is a tribute to her old friend the late Gerry Rafferty. This week's issue of the Gonzo Weekly is finished but I am holding up sending it out, just in case Graham has some interesting revelations to impart upon his return.

*  Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 54 who - together with his orange cat (who is currently on sick leave in Staffordshire) and two very small kittens (one of whom is also orange) puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?

WEIRD WEEKEND 2013: Jon/Richard - 'My Way'



This was very nearly the last Weird Weekend. Jon and Richard explain why.
and now the end is near
and we may face the final curtain ha ha ha
this thing we do each year
the future really is uncertain

 for the last fourteen years
with lots of hard work and some tears
Jon drank brandy, I drank beers
we did it our way

 regrets, we've had a few, but then again too few to mention
investing in that zoo, was not a good use of her pension
some people ripped us off, or built websites to slag us off, but we told them to....
THAT'S ENOUGH OF THAT
we did it our our way

 There were times everybody knew, we bit off more, far more than we could chew
for fourteen years, us and our friends, put on some really weird weekends
will they go on? Well that depends but we'll do 'em our way

 and now the CFZ are faced with a bone of contention
after fourteen years should we continue our convention
our other work will carry on, and may we say not in a sour way
because we're who we are we'll do it our way

 and We're still just the same you know, we're still mad, bad and dangerous to know
and we still go where others won't, and do the things that other's don't
cos that's really the only point, we do it our way

FORTEAN BIRD NEWS FROM THE WATCHER OF THE SKIES

In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out-of-place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in. So after about six months of regular postings on the main bloggo Corinna took the plunge and started a 'Watcher of the Skies' blog of her own as part of the CFZ Bloggo Network.
