In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out of place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in. So after about six months of regular postings on the main bloggo Corinna has taken the plunge and started a 'Watcher of the Skies' blog of her own as part of the CFZ Bloggo Network.

TODAY'S BIG CAT NEWS
The hunt for British Big Cats attracts far more newspaper-column inches than any other cryptozoological subject. There are so many of them now that we feel that they should be archived by us in some way, so we should have a go at publishing a regular round-up of the stories as they come in. In September 2012 Emma Osborne decided that the Mystery Cat Study Group really deserved a blog of its own within the CFZ Blog Network.

THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN GOES APE
Yesterday was another fairly pleasant day.
I managed to do quite a lot, despite a little orange ball of fur rushing about
the house terrorising everyone except for Poppy the brown cat. Sh is the only
one who can keep Leo in his place. Prudence is scared of him, and everyone else
is in awe. He is rapidly taking over the house. The CFZ Yearbook is now finished
apart from the final proof which should be done today, and the reissue of Robert
Calvert's only novel 'Hype' is well underway. I also watched a documentary on
Steve Winwood on BBci Player last night, which has enthused me to relisten to
various Traffic albums and to Winwood's first solo album from 1977. It is the
first time I have listened to the latter since it first came out, and I had
forgotten how good it was. Jim Capaldi's percussion is almost irresistibly
funky.
* The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...
* The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The same team also do a weekly newsletter called - imaginatively - The Gonzo Weekly. * Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 53 who - together with his orange cat (who is currently on sick leave in Staffordshire) puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?

KITHRA: Cornish Superstitions
Contrary to my usual custom of uploading my latest article on the first day of the month, I have put my most recent one up today. It’s all about Cornish superstitions and you can read it here.
The reason that it has gone up early is because I am helping an old friend to move home. Unfortunately they are very unwell and unable to do anything as stressful as undertaking all the things involved in a house move at the moment. But, the offer of Sheltered accommodation arose and if they had turned it down they could be waiting for a very long time for another flat to become available.
So, as they have no family close at hand, it’s down to me to find removal companies, write change of address letters, complete forms, etc etc. However, I don’t have to do anything physical as other members of my family are doing the packing. For that I’m most grateful as I’m no longer able to do hard physical work. Therefore, I’m just left with all the mental organising; which I find exhausting enough!
This all means that my computer time is currently somewhat limited, and I’m fitting in what I can when I can. It may be up to 4 weeks before the move takes place, but it might be sooner.

Yesterday’s News Today
On this
day in 1922 Mizuki Shigeru was born. Mizuki is in fact Richard Freeman's
favourite Mangaka mainly because of the manga and (several) anime series of
GeGeGe no Kitaro, which popularised many obscure Yokai.
And now
the news:
The
opening credits of the latest anime adaptation of GeGeGe no
