So who is the Quantra Group? We know that a few days after the new year a leaked email message was sent to an ex-member of the Bigfoot hunting group, Ed Smith. From what we know, this was an accidental leak. The message contained the phrase “Daisy is in the box”. Which according to Smith is code for a live capture of Bigfoot.

DAHLONEGA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The city of Dahlonega is holding the Southeast's first-ever
Bigfoot conference. Believers or skeptics can attend the event on Jan. 12 and 13
at the R Ranch. The Midnight Walkers Southeastern Bigfoot Conference will
feature an interdisciplinary panel of speakers who will address Bigfoot
language, field research and other topics.
In November of 2012, a team of researchers concluded that the
creature may be a human relative that somehow developed around 15,000 years ago
as a result of a hybrid cross between Homo sapiens with an unknown primate.
Tickets are $25 per day for adults and $15 for children 12 and
under. Tickets may be purchased online at www.mwsbc.com.
FORTEAN BIRD NEWS FROM THE WATCHER OF THE SKIES (CFZ)
In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that - whereas the study of out of place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot, or lake monsters - it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean Zoologist to be interested in. So, after about six months of regular postings on the main bloggo, Corinna has taken the plunge and started a 'Watcher of the Skies' blog of her own as part of the CFZ Bloggo Network.

I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO DAH MAN
'Goodness me', I hear you all exclaim. 'You
are up early, Mr Downes'. Well, not exactly. I haven't been to bed yet. I was
asleep most of the afternoon and my body clock is all to cock, (if I may use
such a vulgarism), so I have decided to roll with it and go to bed when I feel
tired. In the meantime here are today's blogs so I don't have to get up at any
particular time.
* The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...
* The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The same team also do a weekly newsletter called - imaginatively - The Gonzo Weekly. Find out about it at this link: http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/all-gonzo-news-wots-fit-to-print.html
As you have probably realised I am very much a fan
of the music of Helen McCookerybook, and will do my best to spread the word far
and wide. Today (I am pleased to say) there are two new albums on Bandcamp.
Check them out.

Rick Wakeman takes a well deserved pop at the
current generation of performers who only want to be famous. I, however (if I
may quote Clive Gregson), learned to play the guitar mostly to pick up girls. It
even worked occasionally.

Michael Des Barres on another groovy TV show. This
time it is about hotel secrets. I have to admit to being somewhat
intrigued...

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures is an old hippy of
53 who - together with his orange cat - puts it all together from a converted
potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with
various fish and batrachians. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna,
his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social
malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?
OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today
Yesterday’s News Today
On this
day in 1900 the ornithologist James Bond was born. Bond wrote what was
considered to be the definitive book on birds of the West Indies and it was upon
seeing this book on his shelf in Jamaica that Ian Fleming decided that James
Bond would be an a good nondescript name for the English spy protagonist of
Casino Royale.
And now
the news:
There was a theory, about the Bond films, that the
name James Bond was a codename given to certain agents like the designation 007
and this was why there were several different Bonds. Basically when the actor
changed the previous James Bond had either died or retired much in the same way
as M and Q are succeeded by what are stated to be different people as the films
progress. I really liked this theory and I enjoyed telling it to people along
with “Star Wars is about the rise and fall of Anakin”, “The briefcase contains
Marcellus' soul” and “Mary Poppins wasn't magical at all but encouraged the
children to use their imagination in the retelling of their exploits to their
father so the whole film is seen through Mr Bank's eyes and is about him leaning
to love his children through their stories”. Unfortunately the most recent and
best Bond film “Skyfall” proved that theory 100% wrong. Here's the
trailer:
