RICHARD FREEMAN'S SECOND ARTICLE IN `THE GUARDIAN`
My first expedition to Sumatra took place in 2003. MOST EXPENSIVE BOOK IN THE WORLD
Another posting from the 'Old Hong Kong' newsgroup, nestled amongst the soft porn, and exhortations to start selling foreign exchange bonds...
“Birds of America“, John James Audubon’s unique sample of nature, art and craftsmanship wrapped in a beautiful album was sold at Sotheby’s last auction for the staggering price of $11.5 million, making it the most expensive book ever sold. Audubon, a 19th century French-American naturalist and painter, gathered 500 breeds of birds, all illustrated in 1,000 hand-painted life-size images, in his extraordinary book, which took 12 years to complete.
PS. Many years ago, when I was a boy, I read a children's book about the life of Audbon. I would love to see a copy if anyone knows what the heck I am talking about

An international multi-million dollar industry serviced by horse whisperers, glossy magazines and popular culture preaches that horses are meek prey animals who fear predators. What if evidence demonstrated horses have slain lions, tigers, pumas, wolves, hyenas and humans?
