CAPTAIN BEEFHEART 1941-2010 - THE CFZ TRIBUTE TO DON VAN VLIET

A reporter once asked Richard and me what we considered to be our greatest achievement. We said that we were most proud of having dressed a little girl as Captain Beefheart. And we were.

John Allison explains it all.

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART HAS DIED - Don Van Vliet (1941-2010)

The world is a poorer place this evening!

Everyone who is anyone will say that this was his weakest album.

I love it, and it is my blog so pish!

AND AS FOR THIS....

The Captain was perhaps the one artist without whom the CFZ would have been a very different place.

SNUFFLING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

It is the first proper snow of the winter and Prudence is not sure what to make of it...

The big question today is whether or not the village is snowed in because today is the day that Graham is scheduled to return from Hawkwinding, and Oliver is scheduled to leave for what is euphemistically described as the `Festive Season`. Only time will tell.

ROBERT SCHNECK: Flying snakes go to war

America's Department of Defense has become interested in flying snakes. Are they developing planes that slither? Serpentine gliders? If so, expect some interesting UFO reports in the near future. Maybe it's a project with a cool name like 'Operation Draco'; the development of flying kraits for battlefield use. The possibilities are nightmarish and I can't wait to see what they come up with.

ARCHIVING PROJECT: General Forteana Part 34

As you know, Oll has been working on the archiving project since early February 2009 and he is now working on a general mish-mash of a section known as `General Forteana`.

This 34th collection once again really is a collection of completely uncategoriseable stuff, including another Muslim exorcism that went wrong, art made from cow dung, Cuban organ thefts, blasphemous sex art, alien abductions, JFK, a buildings inspector gored by an ox and lots more. It doesn't get much better than this. Good stuff.
